
BIOGRAPHY
Mengxue Tan is a pianist and composer from China. She is currently a first-year Doctoral student in Music Composition at the Frost School of Music in Miami. She earned her Master’s Degree in Screen Scoring from New York University in 2023. As a concert music composer, she worked with JACK Quartet, HYPERCUBE Ensemble, Seraph Brass, Budapest scoring symphony and Hollywood Studio Symphony…As an award-winning composer, Mengxue’s original score for the documentary Journey was nominated for Best Original Score at the LA Indie Short Fest. In 2023, the documentary Duet, which she co-scored, won a Student Academy Award. She has collaborated on numerous projects with filmmakers from around the world and was selected for the 2023 ASCAP Columbia University Film Scoring Workshop. In 2022, Mengxue received an Honorable Mention in the Krakow FMF-Young Talent Award Competition and won the NYU Steinhardt Film Score Composition Competition. Her electronic music “Dialogue with the Future” and “Moonlit Shadow” both selected for 2018 and 2020 International Computer Music Conference (ICMC). Furthermore, she wrote the original score for the film “Life Ticket” which was selected by MIAMI GOLDEN LIGHTHOUSE FILM FESTIVAL.
